This ring is a tribute to the iconic Eva 02 unit, also known as the Production Model, from the legendary anime series Neon Genesis Evangelion, directed by Hideaki Anno and produced by Studio Gainax. Piloted by Asuka Langley Sōryū, the Eva 02 is the first unit designed for mass production and real combat.
The Eva 02 differs from its predecessors with its distinctive four-eyed face, a feature later abandoned in future models. It also possesses unique combat weapons:
- Left Shoulder: A modified Progressive Knife, a blade designed for close combat
- Right Shoulder: A Needle Gun, a firearm capable of shooting sharp projectiles
The organic material used for the Eva 02 was derived from Adam, the first Angel, adding a deep spiritual and biological connection to its core. The unit was assembled and tested in Germany, where pilot training was supervised by Dr. Kyōko Zeppelin Sōryū, Asuka’s mother, whose maternal essence is believed to reside within the Eva 02.
