Batman (originally known as The Bat-Man) is a fictional character created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger, the protagonist of comic stories published in the United States of America by DC Comics. It made its debut in May 1939 on no. 27 from Detective Comics, and has become one of the most important icons of superhero comics; a copy of the debut book reached prices of almost 1.4 million dollars.
Batman is the secret identity of Bruce Thomas Patrick Wayne, a very wealthy businessman who, after having witnessed the murder of his parents by a thief as a child, decides to wage a personal war against crime wearing a bat costume to instill fear in opponents.
