Venetian mask
Face or Larva.
Mostly white mask, typically Venetian, was used with tricorn and cloak to form the bauta.
The name larva is thought to derive from the same Latin voice which has the meaning of "mask" or "ghost" as one can imagine the effect of a Venetian
all dressed in black with this white mask supported by the black tricorn while walking in the moonlight ...
The shape of the mask allowed you to breathe and drink easily, so you didn't need to take it off, thus maintaining anonymity.
These masks were worked in fine waxed canvas, they were therefore very light and did not cause any discomfort: you could therefore easily dance, eat, flirt.
