Tiger
The tiger (Panthera tigris Linnaeus, 1758) is a carnivorous mammal of the felidae family. It is the largest of the so-called "big cats" that make up the Panthera genus (tiger, lion, jaguar, leopard and snow leopard), and is the only modern felid to reach the size of the largest prehistoric felids. Its weight can reach up to 300 kg.
It is a so-called alpha predator, that is, it is at the top of the food chain, having no predators in nature, apart from humans. In addition to its considerable size, it is characterized by the particular coloring of the striped coat which serves to optically "break" the figure of the animal; the design of the coat varies slightly from subspecies to subspecies. However, there are variations in the color of the coat, mainly in the nominal subspecies Panthera tigris tigris (Indian "Bengal" tiger), the most common of these being the one with black stripes on a white background.
