John Simon Ritchie, better known as Sid Vicious (London, May 10, 1957 - New York, February 2, 1979), was a British bassist and singer, a member of the punk rock band The Sex Pistols.

Born to John Ritchie, Buckingham Palace guard and semi-professional trombone player in the London jazz scene, and Anne McDonald. Shortly after the birth of John Simon, the father leaves the family, and mother and son move to Ibiza. In 1965, Anne married Christopher Beverley, whose surname John Simon adopted, becoming John Simon Beverley or even John Beverley.
