Bushido
The bushido of the warrior is a code of conduct and a way of life, similar to the European concept of cavalry and the Roman concept of the mos maiorum - adopted by the samurai.
Bushido is based on seven fundamental concepts, to which the samurai must scrupulously adhere:
- 義, Gi: Honesty and Justice
- 勇, Yu: Heroic Courage
- 仁, Jin: Compassion
- 礼, Rei: Kind courtesy
- 誠, Makoto: Complete Sincerity
- 名誉, Meiyo: Honor
- 忠義, Chugi: Duty and Loyalty
