Skull Cat
Cats are very agile animals and this is thanks to their musculoskeletal system, consisting of 280 bones and more than five hundred muscles.
The skull has large eye cavities and has a mighty set of teeth, made up of 12 incisors, eight premolars, six molars and four canines, whose grip manages to shatter the bones of the prey. In the skull of a medium-sized cat, the brain weighs 30 grams.
The spine, which has the same mobility as that of a snake, is made up of 50 vertebrae. The tail vertebrae are an extension of the spinal column.
The rib cage is made up of 13 ribs and has a flexibility that allows the cat to pass even in tight spaces. It has a small sternum and, contrary to popular belief, the cat has a collarbone; a fragment is between the pectorals, so as not to prevent this predator from being able to make its quick shots.
The lower limbs are made up of 41 bones while the hind ones have 39. The front legs end with five toes, while the hind legs with four and an angular hock, beyond the tibial crest. All the toes are equipped with razor sharp retractable claws, fixed to the paws through the tendons.
