This ring made of 925 Silver depicting a face of a Viking is part of the "Ancients" collection.

The term Vikings usually refers to those Norse warriors, originally from Scandinavia, Denmark and northern Germany who, aboard drakkar, made raids on the coasts of the British Isles, France and other parts of Europe between the end of the VIII and the 11th century. This period of European history (generally between the years 793 and 1066) is usually referred to as the Viking age.

With this term we can also refer to all the populations that inhabited Scandinavia in those years and to their settlements in other parts of Europe. The Vikings were part of the Norse populations, only the term "Viking" indicated a belonging to those coastal populations, settled in the fjords (vik means "bay" in fact) and dedicated to piracy.

Famous for their skill as navigators and for their long boats, the Vikings in a few centuries colonized the coasts and rivers of most of Europe, the Shetland Islands, the Orkney Islands, Faroe Islands, Iceland, Greenland and Newfoundland; they went south to the coasts of North Africa and east to Russia and Constantinople, both to trade and to carry out looting.
