Among the various applications of biomechanics, there are applications in the military field (how to better distribute the weight of a soldier's equipment), in the sports field (how to increase the performance of athletes) and in the biomedical field (construction of artificial limbs).

Biomechanics has also been employed to measure performance in horse racing and in the study of aquatic microorganisms. Biomechanics has also been used to study the behavior of now extinct animals.

Often in the field of biomechanics simulation software is used, in order to obtain a physical model of the real model; in this way, it is possible to predict what will be the response of mechanical stresses on the real model indirectly, starting from the model used in the simulation.
