Dog of medium size, good temperament, intelligent, sociable, docile, calm, excellent swimmer (also thanks to the "webbing" of the legs), originally it was used mainly by hunters as a retriever.
His good nature and a disposition to learning make him suitable for being trained to carry out many activities, from assistance to the blind, to rescue in the water, to search for people. Thanks to its extremely docile and affectionate character it is an excellent companion dog, particularly suitable for living with the family, preferably with children, with whom it loves to play a lot.
