Polyps have radial symmetry, lack of sensitivity to light, and a non-hierarchical and reticular nervous system.
They are usually sessile or sedentary (they carry out sporadic relocations). Polyps belonging to floating colonies (formed by polyps and jellyfish) such as Velella velella are an exception. They are often colonial.
