Anri du Toit was born in a small South African town called Port Alfred. She was adopted when she was still a child. His father was a priest and his mother did not have a job, they were traditionalists of Afrikaner folklore. He left the family environment at the age of 16, moving to Pretoria and enrolling in a new school, where he met a boy named Markus, very good in the field of electronic music. Markus decided to record some songs by mixing Anri's voice to his bases. Later Anri was impressed by the work and began to develop the idea of making music.

After school, he moved to Cape Town where he met Watkin Tudor Jones (Ninja), who after hearing Anri's voice in previous works produced by his friend Markus, decided to create a rap group with her.

After various works and projects, in 2008, they created their most successful group, Die Antwoord, with DJ Hi-Tek.
