L’EVA00 è un mecha ( robot) che prende vita in una delle serie anime/manga giapponesi più famose ed apprezzate degli ultimi 30 anni: Neon Genesis Evangelion.
Questo mecha viene pilotato da una ragazza molto introversa e mistica, Rei Ayanami, che lo guida nella lotta per difendere Tokyo 3 dall’avvento degli Angeli, esseri soprannaturali che discendono dal cielo per annientare la razza umana.
Ne esistono 2 modelli: il primo (quello arancione) è stato semplicemente progettato e costruito per verificare la realizzabilità del progetto Evangelion e per testarne il funzionamento per raccogliere dati per la costruzione di modelli successivi quindi è solo un prototipo scientifico non adatto al combattimento. Dopo aver subito gravi danni dall’attacco del 5^ Angelo (era stato usato per fare scudo all’unità 01) è stato risttrutturato e adattato al combattimento (è anche stato colorato di blu). The Eva 00 unit, piloted by the enigmatic Rei Ayanami, plays a crucial role in the legendary anime series Neon Genesis Evangelion, produced by Studio Gainax and directed by Hideaki Anno. As the prototype Evangelion, the Eva 00 was originally created for experimental purposes and data collection. Initially orange, it was later rebuilt and repainted blue after sustaining severe damage during a battle with the Fifth Angel, where it shielded Eva 01.

Unlike the combat-optimized models that followed, the first version of Eva 00 was a scientific prototype designed to test the feasibility of the Evangelion project. The organic material composing the unit originates from Adam, a being with deep spiritual and symbolic significance within the Evangelion universe.
